Axel Rudi Pell, a man with a very impressive discography and live record. Yet I only knew him by name. But with his latest release, if I’m correct his 15th studio album in 23 years, I finally get to know his music. Circle of the Oath was a pleasant way to get to know Mr. Pell, as I must say I really enjoyed the album. From 1987 til 1997 Red Jasper released about five albums. Their 90s albums are probably the most known. The earlier albums were only released on vinyl and very hard to get. But after an almost 13 year absence, Red Jasper got back together, as a four piece band this time and started working on new material. (more…)

Certainly interesting when you name your band Druckfarben, while you are not coming from Germany. Five guys, who met when they all got together to record a tribute album to Yes. They all had a lot of experience, got along well and decided to stop doing covers and bring their own material. (more…)

When I was contacted by a musician from Iran, I was very curious. Because to be honest I did not thought I’d hear progressive music from that country. But there I received two albums of Salim Ghazi Saeedi: Iconophobic (2010) and Human Encounter (2011). This is an independent musician that I want to support, even though his music is not as ‘prog’ as I expected…more jazzy, with some King Crimson/Robert Fripp influences. (more…)

The Queen of Symphonic Rock is back! Almost 5 years after Red Planet Boulevard, Lana Lane returns with El Dorado Hotel, in my opinion her best album to date! Being a huge fan of her music and voice, I am very happy she released a new album. Although the style is characteristic Lana Lane, I found lot’s of new and fresh elements in the songs. (more…)
